Geboren 1969, wächst im norddeutschen Friesland auf. Durch die Nähe zum Nordseestrand und umgeben von Wald und Wasser verbringt er viel Zeit im Freien, im, am oder auf dem Wasser oder im Wald. Zwischen Sandburgen und Baumhütten. Zeichnen und Malen sind ein Zeitvertreib für Regentage, gewinnen allerdings mehr und mehr an Bedeutung. Während der Abiturzeit kristallisiert sich der Gedanke Kunst zu studieren. Die Bundeswehr bringt ihn Anfang der 90er ins belgische Mons wo er, im Atelier von Yvon Vandyke, Malerei studiert. Dabei liegt sein Hauptinteresse beim Mensch, dessen Portrait er unter anderem auch im Gerichtsaal, während der Verhandlung, studiert. Bis 1999 ist er als freelance journalistischer Zeichner in Mons und Brüssel tätig. Enttäuscht vom Mensch verliert er das Interesse an ihm und dessen Bild. Malen und Zeichnen sind jetzt nur noch ein sporadischer Zeitvertreib. Ab 2010 jedoch gewinnt das Bild wieder mehr Raum. Der Mensch, ehemals zentrale Figur, wird jetzt nur noch Nebenfigur, Statist in Skizzenbüchern.

Seit 2015 werden maritime Landschaften, Strand- und Wellenszenen, aber auch Wasser als Sinnbild des Lebens selbst zu einem zentralen Thema seiner Arbeit.

Né en 1969, Nico grandit en Allemagne du nord. La proximité de la forêt, de la plage de la mer du Nord et de l’eau font partie intégrante de son univers. Il évolue entre les châteaux de sable et les cabanes dans les bois.

 Dessiner et peindre sont un passe-temps pour les jours de pluie, mais gagnent de plus en plus en importance. Durant sa dernière année au lycée, l’idée d'étudier l'art prend forme. Lors de son service militaire en 1990, il débarque à Mons, en Belgique où il étudie la peinture dans l'atelier d'Yvon Vandyke. Son principal intérêt réside dans l'être humain, dont il étudie également le portrait lors de procès à la cour d'assise. Jusqu'en 1999, il travaille comme dessinateur jounaliste indépendant à la cour de Mons et de Bruxelles. Par après assez déçu de toutes ces expériences, il perd tout intérêt pour l'Homme et son image. Peindre et dessiner ne sont plus qu'un passe-temps sporadique.
Cependant, à partir de 2010, l’image prend à nouveau plus de place. L'être humain, auparavant figure centrale, devient secondaire et apparaît dans des carnets de croquis.

Depuis 2015, les paysages maritimes, les scènes de plage et de vagues, mais aussi l'eau en tant que symbole de la vie sont devenus un thème central de son travail.

Born in 1969, Nico grows up in Friesland, northern Germany. Close to the seaside and surrounded by woods he spents a lot of time outdoors, between treehuts and sand castles.

At that time, drawing and painting are a pastime for rainy days, yet will grow more and more into a passion. During his last year in highschool, the idea to study art crystalizes. After his military service within the Nato in Belgium in the early nineties, he enters art school, section 'painting' which is directed by Yvon Vandyke in Mons Belgium. With a strong focus set on the human being he also studies his portrait in the court of justice. Later on, until 1999 he works as an independant court artist at the court of justice in Mons and in Brussels.

Disappointed of the the human nature he loses all interest in the human being and his picture. Painting and drawing become again rather a pastime.

Since 2010 the interest in images grows stronger again. The human figure however, formerly the central object of his work, has now rather a secondary role.

Since 2015, seascapes, beach scenes and waves, but also water itself, as a symbol of life, had become the central object of his work.
